The October Issue: Beck - ‘Colors’

Updated: Feb 20, 2024

Forget what you think you know about the musical icon Beck, and put the needle onto ‘Colors’ with an open mind. The thirteenth studio album ‘Colors’ has been dubbed Beck’s most mainstream-palatable record thus far, and if that wasn’t enough, the collaboration with Greg Kurstin is the hitmaking sprinkle of songs you just can’t forget.

Take the self-titled opener ‘I’m So Free’ sets the tone for this feel-good album, which apparently was also a homage to celebrate Beck’s new mindset.

Tracks like ‘Wow’, ‘Dreams’ and ‘Up All Night’, take you on a journey of catchy riffs, lyrics you can’t shake, and a need to dance. It’s no surprise that this new sound was led by hitmaker and producer-writer Greg Kurstin, who’s credited for some of our most loved music from the icons Adele, Kelly Clarkson and Sia - you may know a little song called, ‘Hello’ - but this collaboration feels almost next level.

The production of ‘Colors’ was a journey that saw Beck on a mission to create an album that wasn’t quite pop and wasn’t quite a retro throwback. Personally at RRC HQ, we’re big fans of this album, as if you’re looking for an album that from start to finish serves up all the good vibes, then this is your new go-to.

We hope you love this curated choice as much as we do, and did we mention this is the limited edition cover and 'Yellow' coloured pressing that’s sold out in most online stores!
